NEWS: Coventry Winter Indoor season off to flying start

The indoor season of training and practice sessions made a flying start at Coventry last Sunday evening, with Coventry club officials reporting a successful first session with 28 riders rolling up at the Sports Connexion, Ryton, near Coventry.

Riders from as far afield as Stockport and Wiltshire were in evidence as riders warmed-up for the British Indoor Finals at the well-appointed Sports Connexion venue, set for 7th and 8th January 2017.

Numbers were swelled with several new riders from the newly revived Brandon Bees club having their first taste of indoor action. These included Cameron Gill, Jony and Lewis Middleton, Thomas Pearson, Tom and Dylan Savage, and the Gregory brothers, Owen and Lee.

A Coventry club spokesman said: “We are pleased the uncertainty surrounding this winter’s indoor scene have now been fully resolved. We were delighted with our first night attendance and look forward to further healthy numbers in the weeks leading up to Christmas”.

The indoor training and practice evenings continue this Sunday, 27th November, at the Sports Connexion. The full venue address is: Sports Connexion, Leamington Rd, Ryton, near Coventry. CV8 3FL.

They further continue for the next four weeks. The full dates are:

Sunday 27th November
Sunday 4th December
Sunday 11th December
Sunday 18th December

All sessions will start at 7pm and end at 9pm. There is no session on Sunday 25th December 2016 or Sunday 1st January 2017.

The sessions are also open to complete newcomers who wish to try the all-action sport of Cycle Speedway, such as new riders, cyclists from other cycle sports or Speedway fans who want to have a go at the pedal version of the sport.

Entry costs have been pegged by the organisers – the Coventry Cycle Speedway club – at the same level as last year. This winter’s price structure is as follows:

Coventry CSC Juniors: £2.00
Coventry CSC Seniors: £4.00
Brandon Bees Juniors: £2.00
Nuneaton BMX Club Juniors £2.00
Nuneaton BMX Club Seniors: £4.00
Visiting Juniors: (Under 18s) £3.00
Visiting Seniors: £5.00

The club would remind all riders, officials and spectators attending the practice sessions at the Sports Connexion, Ryton, near Coventry, on all dates this winter, do so entirely at their own risk. Management reserve the rights to admission.

All riders must sign a disclaimer on entry. Parents or guardians to sign for riders aged under 18. By signing the disclaimer, all participants agree to adhere to the rules and provisions of participating.
