MATCH REPORT: Spring Cup decided in Birmingham

For the fourth time running, the Monarchs finished runners up in the final round of the Spring Cup. The Wednesfield Aces A team took victory on the day and were overall winners of the tournament.

The Aces brought a single point lead into the event and it turned into a two team battle for the title with the Monarchs.

There was little between both clubs throughout the first half with the Monarchs a point behind on 36 at the interval stage.

The Aces took a maximum in heat 13 to pull further ahead and the home club then suffered an exclusion for Groves in heat 14.

With maximum points in the next two heats, the Aces extended their advantage.

Two further drawn heats ensured that victory was beyond the Birmingham club with the Aces going on to win by six on the day.

The Wednesfield B team finished third whilst the winners of the third round, East Park, were completely outclassed despite a spirited effort.
