RIP: Joe Guy

Former East Park rider, Joe Guy, has sadly been killed in a road traffic accident whilst on a training ride yesterday.

East Park club chairman, Al Bentley commented: “It is with great sadness that we report the loss of a great young lad and former East Park Junior rider, Joe Guy, who rode for East Park CSC and was tragically killed in a incident on his road bike.

“Joe rode for us before moving on to Wolverhampton Wheelers. Joe was doing what he loved.

“Any one wishing to leave a donation through East Park can contact club secretary Rob Barnett, as we are collecting for Joe’s flowers and family.”

Team GB boss, Lee Aris also commented via social media, writing: “Hearing the tragic news this morning about Joe Guy. I’m struggling to find the words. Joe was an enthusiastic and talented cyclist.

“I’m seeing young photos on Facebook from his Cycle Speedway days where he improved with every outing. I remember him asking me for tips as he always wanted to better himself.

“His passion for cycling took him to the Wheelers where he excelled further. I would hear glowing evaluations from friends around the track, and inside I felt good knowing he was excelling at something he loved.”

RIP Joe.
