NEWS: Riders sought after for Wattbike testing

Hull’s Andy Schofield looking for volunteers to take part in a study that he is conducting into the physiological and performance characteristics of cycle speedway riders, as part of his post graduate MSc in strength & conditioning at York St John University.

Participants must be at least 18 years old, of general good health, and be competing regularly at regional level or above. The testing will be over 2 days (about 3 hours / day) with one week separating each visit. Both sessions will take place on a Wattbike Pro indoor bike trainer and will require the participants to work at maximal intensity, to the point of exhaustion.

Participants will need to be available during the week (Monday – Friday) for about 3 hours between 9am and 6pm, and again one week later, and be able to travel to York St John University. It is likely that each session will comprise 2 or 3 riders and exact timings can be decided at their convenience.

The sessions are planned to take place during this June and early July.  Volunteers will receive a personalised report of their test results and be kept informed of the study’s progress.
