MATCH REPORT: Hawks lose but play off place is secured

Hethersett Hawks/Myhill Decorators travelled to their final South East and Eastern League Division 1 match at Great Blakenham, where they faced a Suffolk side at full strength and cementing their top two place in the League.

Hethersett battled hard but had to wait until heat 8 before their first heat win – a 6-4 by Liam Webster and Harley Hamill.  With the match looking safe and Richard Williamson limited to just one ride, Blakenham gave outings to no fewer than five substitutes in the second half.

Dan Chambers notched a couple of late wins to top the scorers with Glyn Morgan notching up the scalp of Adam Peck in heat 10. Both teams will be in the British KO Cup Regional Play-offs on September 10th.

The Hawks line-up contained three females, but it was Liam Webster and Harley Hamill who secured victory with a 6-4 win in the final heat after Blakenham had kept their hopes alive with a 7-3 in heat 14.
