NEWS: Venues for key dates announced

Last month, British Cycling announced the venues for some of the key matches in 2018. The Cycle Speedway Commission meet this month to finalise the 2018 competitions plan, with returning former chair, Graham Elliott, back in the hot seat.

Further to this, an amendment to the grading system has already been announced by British Cycling, the statement read:

“In anticipation however that this year’s Transfer window closes on 21st January clubs might wish to note that whilst the existing criteria for and restrictions on graded riders continue to apply, Graded riders who transferred before the start of the 2017 season will be considered “dormant graded”.

A dormant graded rider has the same status as a non-graded rider.  From the 2018 transfer window forwards, if a club recruits a graded rider and mixes graded with dormant riders in a team match, all will be considered graded for that match.”

This ruling will allow riders who signed to their clubs before the grading system came in to race together, provided no other graded riders are tracked at the same time.

The British Individual Championships take place in the North, with Poland hosting the European Individual Championships, while East Park host the European Club Championships.
