AUSTRALIA: Juniors top the bill at Findon Annual Memorial event

Despite the fact that the Open grade lacked a few senior entries combined with non appearances this did not detract from an afternoon of excellent racing.
However it was another outstanding performance from Angus Freeman who took out the major award from the “back to form” Matt Gentle. If Freeman was able to raise the considerable expense to travel to Poland for the 2019 Worlds he would without doubt be a more than valuable asset to the Australian Senior squad.
But the future talents of the home nation were clearly on show today with Aussie Jones,Blade Blatchford,Locke Pearce and Jackson Dobie all competing in five heats of racing in the Junior event with only five points separating them on the podium.
Again Braylan MacDonald was unbeaten in the Under 15 category and is yet another rider to emerge from the highly successful youth policy adopted by all the clubs.
Sam Rochester dropped just one point to take out the Veterans class from Andrew Blatchford but although he is unable to contest the Worlds this year there is no doubt that 2020 in Adelaide is his career target. In the Womens Division Letitia Collins again showed her expertise to defeat close rivals Harleigh Rochester,Nicola Gentle and Jackie Kinross. Although at present Collins has indicated she will not contest the 2019 Worlds hopefully a major sponsor will come on board to give her the opportunity to continue her endless performances on the international scene.
