WEEKEND PREVIEW: Norfolk Championships, Eurovets & Regional Racing

Another busy weekend of racing begins on Saturday with the staging of the Norfolk County Championships for Under 10’s, Under 13’s, Under 16’s & Under 19’s which are being staged by the Norwich club at their Eaton Park circuit. These events will also count as Round 3 of the Norfolk Go-Ride series which should have been staged at Harford Park on 8th May but was postponed due to rain. Saturday also sees the 2nd round of the Eurovets series at Hull. Leicester’s Craig Marchant won the Over 35’s & Over 40’s at the 1st round at Birmingham with his team-mate Norman Venson winning the Over 50’s and Exeter’s Dave Murphy winning the Over 60’s.

Sunday sees another busy day of regional racing with action in all 4 regions. The North & Scootland region is the busiest as all 8 teams are in action. The match of the day is in Division 2 where the 2 unbeaten teams Fife and Astley & Tyldesley face each other. A&T also travel to Glasgow and as at Fife will race a Division 3 match also. Stockport also have a busy day as they start at Sheffield in Division 2 & 3 before heading to Goshen Sports Centre to take on the Bury Comets in all 3 Divisions. Edinburgh & Hull face each other at Redbraes, also in all 3 Divisions.

In the Midland League Birmingham host Wednesfield whilst Coventry make the trip to Leicester. The Division 1 fixtures in both of these matches will also count for the Crossover League, as will Horspath’s match with Poole in the South & South Wales League. Also in the South & South Wales League Exeter cross the Severn Bridge to face Newport.

The Norfolk derby between Hethersett & Norwich is the only Division 1 fixture in the South-East & Eastern League. The same teams will also contest a Division 2 match. Also in Division 2 Ipswich welcome Hellingly to the Whitton Sports Centre whilst the defending Division 2 champions Kesgrave host Great Blakenham
