MATCH REPORT: Manchester League Round 4

Astley & Tyldesley teams dominated Round 4 of the Manchester League series at Stockport on Wednesday evening.

A&T took the win in the Division 2 match, which started the evening’s racing. Aiden Green, Tom Morrissey, Ciaran Collins and Emily Burgess all raced unbeaten in the u-10s, u-13s, u-19s and Womens categories respectively, with Oscar Belt, A&T’s 5th scorer, losing only to teammate Aiden Green in the u-10s match.
Collins made a welcome return, racing in his first match of the season, following illness and injuries. This was Team Green’s 4th win of the series and they look certain to retain the Division 2 title.

Division 2 standings

Astley & Tyldesley 10 Bury 6 Stockport 2.

A&T won the Division 1 match, to move into 1st place in the table, level on match points with Stockport, but ahead on race points. Stockport’s Jake Read top scored in the match, beaten only by A&T’s Reece Pollitt in heat 3. Pollitt suffered a gate exclusion in heat 5, as Read extended his lead in the Individual Grand Prix series to eight points over Pollitt.
