CLUB NEWS: Six Hawks represent Norfolk

HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES had six riders representing Norfolk in return Junior matches against Suffolk at Harford Park, Norwich.

In the Under-10s Luca El Labany helped set the platform for a team win by joining Norfolk Champion Connor Jarrett for a 7-3 win in his first ever team race. Substitute Lewis Smith also produced some key rides as Norfolk won 82-78 and secured an aggregate win.

The Under-16 match was also a close affair. Charlie Lyth, unbeaten in five rides, had support from Paul Delaiche and when these two came out for the final nominated riders race Norfolk were leading 75-74. Their opponents were British Under-14 champion Harvey Young and Kristian Mitchell. Two pile-ups meant the race was re-started twice but disaster struck as Charlie fell and Suffolk took full advantage to take the race 6-4 and the overall victory 81-78. George Larter-Dixon and McKenzie Loombe also had their moments for Norfolk.

This Sunday (15th) the Hawks’ B team have their final Division 2 match of the season with the long trip to Sussex to face Hellingly Lions.
