WEEKEND PREVIEW: Under 16 Girls,Veterans & Women’s Club Championships plus regional racing

The British Under 16 Girls, Veterans & Women’s Club Championships are the main event of the weekend and these take place on Saturday at Leicester. The Veterans event sees the host club take on Exeter, Edinburgh and Norwich whilst in the Women’s event Leicester defend their title for the 13th time against Ipswich, Poole & Sheffield. Exeter defend the Under 16 Girls Club Championship (which was staged for the first time last year) against Poole, Leicester & Astley & Tyldesley.

Moving on to Sunday and there is  racing in the North & Scotland League, the South-East & Eastern League and the Crossover League. The North & Scotland League has 3 matches in Divisions 2 and also in Division 3. There is a Scottish Derby at Redbraes Park as Edinburgh take on Glasgow whilst at Cookson Park Sheffield have 4 matches as they take on Bury and Astley & Tyldesley in both divisions. The Division 2 match between Sheffield and A&T is a crucial one as a win for A&T will put them in a play-off for the Division 2 Championship with Fife at a neutral track in October. Anything less than an A&T victory and the championship goes to Fife.

In the South-East & Eastern League there are 2 matches in Division 2. Hellingly take on Hethersett whilst Kesgrave take on the Division 2 champions Ipswich. Both of these matches will have a bearing on who finishes as runners-up in this Division with Hellingly holding 2nd by 1 point from Kesgrave ahead of Sunday’s matches

The Crossover league has 2 matches with Horspath making the trip to Hearsall Common to take on Coventry whilst Leicester are the visitors to Poole.

Finally the latest round of the South & South Wales Rosebowl takes place at Exeter
