CLUB NEWS: Lions beat Hawks to secure runner-up spot

HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAGES faced unexpectedly hot conditions for their final Division 2 match on the South Coast. This made bend conditions tricky as Hellingly Lions put their home knowledge to advantage in the early stages against the Hawks’ B team which was under strength.

At one point the Hawks were 13 points down but unbeaten rides from Charlie Lyth and substitute David Adams helped to claw it back to five points with three heats reaming. Hellingly responded to share the points in these heats for a narrow win that gave them runners-up spot in the Division. Lewis Smith, fresh from winning the Club’s Under-10 title, was named man of the match by the manager.
