CLUB NEWS: Stars to return to Division 1

(as reported on Sheffield’s facebook page)

Sheffield have informed the North and Scotland League that they plan on returning to Division One racing in 2021.
Stars withdrew from top level racing at the end of 2018, when Niall and Ed Morton moved on to sign for Edinburgh Falcons (Niall was based in the City for his University course) and Adam Watson signed for Coventry Sabres. This came a season after Kyle Holland had signed for Astley and Tyldesley. Kyle returned to the Stars in 2020 and Sheffield received the perfect Christmas present when Niall and Ed stated they would re sign for Sheffield for 2021, subject to British Cycling approval. Covid 19 has led to the majority of Niall’s course taking place on line, with a return to the Sheffield area meaning he would again be free to race for his home town team. Niall and Ed both enjoyed their time racing for the Falcons, picking up winners medals when Edinburgh won the 2019 Senior KO Cup.
Along with Kyle and the ever improving Kielan Burton it gives the Stars a strong top quartet, and a wealth of experience to pass on to the Stars junior riders.
