Astley & Tyldesley have two more British Individual Cycle Speedway Champions! Wigan based 11 years old Frank White won the British u-12 Boys title at East Park, Wolverhampton on Sunday, after dropping just one point in the match. Racing at Birmingham on Monday, 18 years old Astley resident Emily Burgess retained her British Women’s title, winning all her five races for a 20 points maximum score.

There was more success with three other rostrum places achieved by A&T riders. Steve Harris took 2nd place in the o-50s Championship, at Coventry on Sunday, after losing a 1st place run-off with Leicester’s Norman Venson. Steve then collected a 3rd place medal in the o-40s Championship, at Birmingham on Monday. Duncan Whalley completed a quintet of medals with a 3rd place in the u-14 Boys Championship, at Wednesfield, on Saturday.

This was a terrific set of results for Astley & Tyldesley riders, from a total entry of 169 riders, at the annual British Individual Finals Weekend, held this year in the Midlands region.
