OBITUARY: Dave Shoat

33/18 News has received the sad news that Sheffield club member Dave Shoat passed away recently. Here is how the Sheffield club reported the news on their Facebook page:

“It’s with a heavy heart that we announce the sad passing of Stars club member Dave Shoat.

“Dave had been with Sheffield for over 20 years, never as a rider, but always willing to help on match days. He was at the Club when the Premier League started in 2004. He was Starts Marshall and took on the daunting task of referee for 1st and 2nd team matches, plus Junior and Go Ride racing events.

“He was looking forward to returning to watch the racing in 2023, he missed a good part of this season after having his left leg amputated from below the knee. His new leg was to be fitted in November, getting him mobile again.

“He had kept in touch and was chuffed that the Stars had won the KO Cup again, he would have been over the moon that the Div Two title had been won.

“It will be a very subdued AGM tonight, we will miss his input.

“Our thoughts and condolences are with his family.

“Shine bright Dave. 🌟”
