MATCH REPORT: Robins win Rose Bowl for the first time

Swindon Cycle Speedway Club were victorious in the South-West Rose bowl Fours Competition in Sunny Oxfordshire on Sunday.

Swindon defeated both Exeter and Hellingly (Eastbourne) to win the event for the first time in their history.

The match was closely fought throughout but with the other teams making mistakes. Swindon’s team lead by former World Champion Steve Harris capitalised on the others misfortune to take victory with a race to spare.

Swindon’s season comes to a climax this Sunday when they race in the end of season playoff finals at Exeter.

The Robins, after such a successful season, will then be keeping a close eye on developments over the winter regarding the Oasis as the new development has no plans to include a track within the new complex.

The petition to save the Cycle Speedway track, along with the skate park and BMX track has had 870 signatures.
