NEWS: Raven appointed Team GB head coach

British Cycling recently asked for candidates to come forward to become Team GB’s head coach ahead of the 2017 World Championships.

Newport’s Stuart Raven has been identified as the perfect candidate for the role and takes it on with immediate effect.

Raven’s appointment will no doubt be popular with the current Team GB squad. The current Welsh team coach has already assisted under team managers Dave Murphy and Geoff Gamage for the last two World Championships in 2013 and 2015, the latter which saw both Great Britain’s men and ladies teams win the Ashes series, along with the Federation Cup at East Park.

Stuart took on a coaching role at Newport in 2001 and in 2007 he obtained his British Cycling Level 2 Coaching Certificate, following on in 2011 by gaining his Level 2 Cycle Speedway Specific Certificate.

Congratulations on the new role Stuart, a truly worthy appointment!
