MATCH REPORT: Vikings do the double over Hull

On a wet and tricky track, both teams put up fine performances, but Northumbria held the upper hand throughout and compled the double in both divisions.

Northumbria gained an good win against a seven man Hull side in Division One. After a shared first heat, Northumbria took a 7-3 through Kirkup and Keith.

By heat 6 the Vikings had increased their lead to 10 points. Northumbria steadily increased their lead with Hull managing just one heat win, coming in the last heat thanks to a 7-3 from Josh Bellis and Andy Angell.

Best for Hull were Andy Angell, Lewis Aylmer and Josh Bellis. Dave Lister was the only rider to beat Gavin Parr when the Northumbrian rider made a rare mistake on the fourth bend of lap 2.

Hull lost young Jack Lister who had to pull out after a second ride fall. Northumbria scored freely with seven riders in double figures. Shane Gray caught the eye with paid 14 from 4 rides.

It was a very depleted Hull side that took to the track for Division 2. The withdrawal of Jack Lister, and Nathan Everett’s points being illegible made the result inevitable but they played their part in an interesting meeting. Josh Bellis was unbeaten with Everitt on 19 were the best riders on show.

Northumbria didn’t lose a heat until a last heat 7-3 for Hull. The Vikings had just one last place, top man again was Lee Redshaw who looks to have a fine future. After just ridden a few laps, newcomer JP Colback impressed everyone with a paid 17.
