CLUB NEWS: Birmingham in October action

The Birmingham Monarchs Cycle Speedway Club have had a two week period of inactivity with the league programme now completed. However October will see more cross over league action to complete that competition programme whilst Birmingham host the Midlands riders championship to end the season.

Individually various Monarchs riders have competed in other competitions with some reaching a climax last weekend. Chris Timms, Ewan Hancox, Mark Winwood and Ricki Johnson represented the Midlands in Poole on Sunday helping the region to a win and overall victory in the Battle of Britain by defeating South West/Wales. The Midlands juniors won 6 out of 6 this year.

Bekah Humphries rode in the womens league on sunday, and finished 2nd in a pairs event and 3rd in the individual B final. The Eurovets series still has 2 rounds to run, travelling to Hellingly on saturday and then the final round is at Leicester in 2 weeks time. Mark Winwood remains in the running for a podium finish.

This will be a busy day of racing as all categories are catered for as we crown the individual riders championships.       6 meetings in one day with the seniors title up for grabs along with women’s,  Veterans, under 18s, 15’s and 12’s.

Before that Birmingham travel to Newport for our last cross over league action on Sunday 15th October. Newport the winners of the South West/Wales league.
