MATCH REPORT: Comprehensive win for Comets

Poole Comets completed their home South West and Wales league programme with a comprehensive victory over Exeter although the final scoreline did scant justice to the efforts put in by the visitors.

Aaron Herbert lowered the colours of home skipper Dean Hook twice in the opening heats but his win in heat 4 was to be the visitors only one of the match as the Comet’s big guns got to work on another sunny afternoon in front of a healthy gathering.

Rob Geech once again proved to be “Mr. Entertainment” with his never say die style, which saw him hit the deck a couple of times but when he stayed on his bike he was able to split the home pairings in heats 10 and 16.

There were 11 maximum heat wins for the Comets with Fraser Garnett and Wil Bristowe joining their two Polish team mates Dawid Bas and Maciej Ganczarek for unbeaten returns.

Next up for Poole is a trip to Horspath in 7 day’s time for what promises to be a tough encounter.
