OBITUARY: RIP Ray Goode

Following on from the passing of former World No.3 Pete Blackwell 33/18 News has just learnt that former Birmingham Lions rider Ray Goode died on Monday 28th October. Ray was in 1948, the first captain of the club which in more recent times became Sandwell, and was the only son of the founder of the club Mr F.L. Goode. He was an exceptionally good rider and rode many times for the Birmingham “Test” team. He always loved Cycle Speedway and enjoyed visiting the Sandwell track until ill health prevented him from doing so. Ray had been ill for some time so his passing is not unexpected, but he represented a link with Cycle Speedway’s past, and those who remember him will be saddened to hear of his passing.

Condolences to Ray’s family and friends from everyone in cycle speedway as well as 33/18 News
