MATCH REPORT: Leicester edge Dragons in close encounter
Leicester 92 – 88 Wednesfield Dragons (ML1) – 29th March 2014
The kind donation from Wednesfield certainly put a smile on everyones face at Leicester and the two matches must have kept the supporters happy as well.
The ML1 match was tight throughout and some of the racing was top drawer. Kev Burns has to be applauded for racing the way he did after finding out just before the match that his bike and all equipment had been stolen during the break in. However all riders should be applauded for the way they rode hard but in a very friendly and sporting manner.
Leicester 92 (Craig Marchant 19, Mark Whitehead 17+1, Kev Burns 14+3, Liam Wood 12, Norm Venson 12+4, Steph Whitehead 9, Ash Doughty 5, Lucy Whitehead 4)
Dragons 88 (Mark Griffiths 16+2, Hatdn Rowley 16, Troy Allen 14+1, Jordan Holdcraft 13, Mick Aris 11+2, Connor Dyke 9+1, Harry Everiss 8, Courtney Aris 1)
Both teams blooded new youngsters in the ML3 match and they all seemed to have a great time. Highlight was probably the clash between little Sophie Sinclair and big Craig Burt – Craig ending in a heap on the centre green! Great entertainment for his team mates.
