NEWS: Under 13 Champ hailed by Monarchs
One of Cycle Speedway’s newest white jersey owners, Kieran Swanson, was welcomed to the Scotwaste Arena in West Lothian – the home of the Edinburgh Monarchs speedway team – to show off his new silverware and winner’s attire to the home fans.
Craig Cook, who won rider of the night, decided to spray the newly crowned Under 13 boy’s champion with champagne on the centre green for his achievements at Redbraes Park the week earlier, following a lap of honour on his Cycle Speedway bike.
Kieran started his Cycle Speedway career just over a year ago. The young Scotsman has only raced in around 10 meetings, as he is also a talented footballer and plays for Raith Rovers Under 13s Pro Youth Club in Scotland. All of his football matches are on Sundays, so Cycle Speedway opportunities can prove limited. His season could even be over for this year already, as the football season is just around the corner.
Kieran’s talents do not stop at racing and football. He is also an avid athletics competitor, in which the speedy youngster can do 100 metres in 13.21 and high jump at 1m 56. So all things considered, he clearly has a natural flair for sports!
Congratulations on your title Kieran and good luck in your future endeavours, whether it be Cycle Speedway, Football or Athletics. All photographs courtesy of Ron Macneill.
