LETTERS: Coventry club night
This letter was sent in a few weeks ago by long standing Coventry member, Jez Hughes, but wasn’t published due to our previous policy on letters. Since said policy has changed, we thought we’d start the ball rolling with something positive…
Hi,
Great to see that someone has taken up the mantle following the demise of Spokesman. Congratulations on a superb website.
I made an extremely rare trip to Hearsall Common on Wednesday night & was amazed at the number of riders who were in attendance at the club night training session. I arrived just after 6.30 to see newcomers & junior riders being put through their paces by an enthusiastic & engaging club coach Myke Grimes whilst senior members encouraged & supported the younger members of the club.
Immediately following the junior session Myke called the senior & experienced riders to task & I was amazed to see around 16 riders take to the track, including 2 girls. Myke runs a tight ship & everyone was subjected to a rigorous workout – ability level groups made sure that there was inclusion for all – it was impressive to witness!
When the portable lighting was switched on the allow training to continue into the fading light I couldn’t have been more proud of what the club has achieved.
As a long standing member of Coventry CSC I offer my wholehearted congratulations to the present administration for the direction in which they have taken the club, their recruitment policy & their inclusion & engagement activities for all members.
I remember the tougher times when we had 5 or 6 people training & struggled to put out a team, after what I witnessed on Wednesday I can see only good things for Coventry CSC, a true family club!
Good luck to all!
Kind regards
Jez Hughes
