COACHING: Three more coaches join CS coaching ranks
On Sunday 14 May, East Park Wolves provided their facilities for British Cycling to run a Cycle Speedway specific coaching course for three club coaches from Wednesfield, East Park and Birmingham.
Rob Mace from British Cycling put the three coaches through an intense coaching course, using East Park Riders and two Birmingham riders of all ages. Five hours of training with the sun shining, ensured a great time was had by all.
Dave White, Stephen Hodgkinson and Steve Mullinder all passed their level 2 Cycle Speedway specific coaching course.
Newley qualified coach, Steve Mullinder commented: “The excellent turn out of East Park and Birmingham youngsters were well behaved and took on board all the coaching techniques we delivered to them.
“East Park were fantastic hosts and we would like to thank Albert Bentley, Bob Prince and the rest of the club, also we would like to thank British Cycling coach Rob Mace.
“I would like to encourage more people to come foreword to become coaches, it can only help to make further improvements to the sport.”
White, Hodgkinson and Mullinder add their names to the growing list of Cycle Speedway coaches, most of whom qualified last October at Ashmore Park. If you’re interested in becoming a coach, please get in touch with the coaching team at British Cycling (coaching@britishcycling.org.uk).
