CLUB NEWS: Hawks stage Presentation Evening

HETHERSETT HAWKS / YELLOW BRICK MORTGAES held their presentation evening at Hethersett Social Club and a packed room celebrated a successful season in which membership increased and fund-raising took off towards major improvements at the Memorial Playing Field track.
On-track successes were acknowledged with two riders gaining podium places at national championships and the Club finishing third in the British Club Championship. Four Norfolk Championships were won by Hethersett riders and the Youth Team made a satisfactory return to the South East League.
Several Club awards were presented on the evening with the most prestigious ones being voted for by the members themselves. These were the Sports Person of the Year and the Young Sports Person of the Year. For the first time these were won by the same member – Under-10 rider Lola Martin.
Awards for Best Newcomers and Most Improved Riders were provided by FedEx and presented by Dave Martin to the following – Newcomers – Under-10 Austin Brailey; Under-13 Harry Dodds; 13+ Rob Silver. Most-Improved – Under-10 Jamal Musa; Under-13 Amelia Dodson; 13+ Mason Martin.
Amelia Dodson also won the Coach’s Award while Russ Marling received the Club Member of the Year Award. Team Managers made awards to their Riders of the Year with the 1st Team award going to Daniel Martin and the Youth Team award going to Luca El Labany. A Commitment Award was presented to Arlo Davies who attended 48 of the 54 training sessions. Finally the 1st Team Top Scorer award went to Paul Delaiche.
Members are eagerly awaiting the start of the next season in March although the Club will be represented at the British Indoor Championships in January..
