NEWS: Little League Championships information

Ross Mee has been in touch with the following information on the Little League Championships:

This year in a change from previous years both the Little League team and individual championships are to be held on one day in an event solely for Little League (U8/U10) racing and this will take place on Saturday 16 July at Leicester.

As before the team event is for teams of 4 (plus optional reserve) with an entry fee of £25 per team.

The individual events are : Under 8s, Under 10 Boys and Under 10 Girls with an entry fee of £5.

A reminder that riders born in 2014 or later are eligible for the U8s and riders born in 2012 and 2013 are eligible for the U10s.

Once again Myke Grimes via 3318 Designs has very kindly agreed to provide the individual champions with a winner’s shirt.

As these are Little League Championships they are not being organised by British Cycling and so there is no on-line entry available with them. Instead all entries should be made direct with me at

Closing date for entries is 18 June.

For the team event entry is from Clubs with riders named on the day.

For the individual events I need the name of the rider, the club they ride for, their date of birth, their BC licence number if they hold one and the event they are entering.

If clubs want to collate the entries that is fine but please include an e-mail address for each entry’s parent so I can send updates direct.

At this stage all I am wanting is for clubs/riders to register to take part – I am happy to collect entry fees on the day or at the BYJL National round at Kesgrave the preceding Saturday.

I intend that the day will start with the team event and continue with the individual championships – the start time will be announced once I know the number of entries we have.

I would be grateful to all clubs if they would circulate this to all their members who might be interested and encourage them to take part. With both competitions being run on the same day this should provide a great day’s racing for all the riders in these younger age categories who now have their own day. They are the future of the sport and we at Leicester look forward to welcoming them and providing them with a day to remember.

Hopefully all of that is clear but if anyone wants any further information please get in touch with me via the above email address.
