EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIPS: Entries close this coming Sunday

International Cycle Speedway Federation secretary Mike Hack has been in touch with a reminder that entries for the European Championships close this coming Sunday, May 29th. Thanks go to those who have already entered and the ICSF look forward to receiving entries from those who haven’t yet done so

There are six competitions to be held over the weekend:
Open, Women, Veterans and Junior Individual Championships;
Open and Junior Nations Cup Finals.

Provisional Schedule
Friday 29th July – Individual Qualifying Rounds, at Astley & Tyldesley (M29 7DW) and Sheffield (Cookson Park) S5 8LY.
Saturday 30th July – Individual Semi-Finals and Nations Cup Finals, at Astley & Tyldesley.
Sunday 31 July – Individual Finals, at Astley & Tyldesley.

Individual Entry Forms
Individual entries should be submitted via the following form by Sunday 29th May:
There is no entry charge, but riders for age restricted events will be required to provide proof of age before competing in the event.

National Team Entries
British Home Nation Team Managers are requested to confirm team entries for the two Nations Cup matches to the ICSF General Secretary ( by Sunday 29 May 2022.

Official Hotel
The official hotel for the Championships weekend is the Holiday Inn Express, Leigh Sports Village, Sale Way, Leigh, Gt. Manchester, WN7 4JY.
The Championship organisers have arranged for 40 double/ twin rooms to be reserved for the use of Championship participants. The rooms will be reserved until three weeks before the start of the tournament. Any rooms remaining after Wednesday 6th July will be released for general sale. The 40 rooms are reserved for the nights of Thursday 28th, Friday 29th, Saturday 30th and Sunday 31st July, with the last guests to check out on Monday 1st August.
Price is £78 per room, including breakfast.

Travel Distances
The distance between the Official Hotel and the Astley & Tyldesley track is 5 miles (8 km), via the A572, Manchester Road. Journey time is approx. 15-20 minutes.
The distance between the Astley & Tyldesley track and the Cookson Park track is 54 miles (86 km), via the A616/ A628, Woodhead Pass. Journey time is approx. 1 hour 30 minutes.
