CLUB NEWS: A&T Club Annual Presentation

A&T staged the 32nd Annual Club Presentation & Social Event in the Function room at the Astley & Tyldesley Miners Welfare Club. Around 50 people enjoyed a buffet and racing footage of 2023 events on the TV screen.

The club welcomed special guest, Mark Grogan, Head teacher at St. George’s Central Primary School and Lead Organiser of the Atherton & Tyldesley Sports Association (ATSA). Mark gave an informative talk on the history, growth and purpose of ATSA. A&T are one of the 62 participating organisations in this association.

The presentation part of the afternoon saw trophies awarded to the A&T junior riders who won the Manchester League Division 2, as well as the various competitions run by the club. The five Special Rider Awards went to the following riders:

Most Improved Rider – Alex Lawless;
Rory Blackwell Cup for Best Newcomer – Jacob Latham;
North West Trophies Cup for Best Novice – Charlotte Brighouse;
J. Fisher & Sons Cup for Young Rider of the Year – John White;
Alan Farrell Memorial Cup for Rider of the Year – Frank White.


The A&T Club has long valued the work of volunteers and officials. This year saw 27 people recognised with presents. John Pilkington was the winner of the Ron Hack Memorial Cup for Volunteer of the Year.

The afternoon concluded with the distribution of numerous raffle prizes, with thanks to club members for their generous donations.
