MATCH REPORT: Hull do the double over Heckmondwike

Hull travelled to Heckmondwike for North & Scotland Division Two and Three matches on a very wet morning but the weather soon cleared and the track was in good condition. In Division two a depleted mainly veteran home side faced a very young Hull team. The visitors started on the front foot winning four of the first five heats with Spencer Glenton impressing when teaming up with Harry Gibson and Noah Lyon, and siblings Kacey and Liam Bennett took a good maximum in heat three. Darren Kent won his first two outings and Ian Johnson was in the action for the Saints. At the Interval Hull led by 16 points and started the second half well with a Harry Gibson / Liam Bennett 7-3 before James Vanner and Justin Naylor took Heckmondwike’s first win with a heat 11 maximum. Kacey and Liam won the next heat and the home side finished well thanks to a Darren Kent / Justin Naylor 1-2 in the final heat to see a final score of Heckmondwike 67 Hull 83. Darren Kent was on top form for Heckmondwike with an unbeaten score while all Hull’s team will be pleased with a good team performance.

In Division Three Hull’s six riders competed against two home riders and won by a comfortable 78 points to 26. Spencer Glenton was unbeaten for Hull with Harry Gibson also riding well and Ellwood Harrison continuing his recent good form. Joseph Green was Heckmondwike’s top scorer and James Vanner led the under 10 contingent.
