The East Newport round (#3) of the ‘John-Dig-a-Lot’ backed South & South Wales British Youth & Junior League saw a total of 78 riders competing, providing, yet again enthusiastic, competitive racing in, mainly good weather, dodging what looked like an almighty thunderstorm mid afternoon, on the Polo.

A field day for Poole who provided 5 of the 8 age category winners with Horspath, Newport & Southampton each claiming one – with just under 100 heats of racing, a great days sport successfully hosted by the East Newport club which was thoroughly enjoyed by riders, helpers, parents and supporters alike.

In the National Qualifying (excludes U8s & U10s) team competition Poole lead the way with 124 pts ahead of the Newport by just 4pts, Exeter third on 55pts, pipping Southampton by a point, East Newport with 43pts and Horspath on 19pts.

Whilst in the Regional team competition it Newport snatched victory from defending Champions Poole by 12pts with 240pts, with East Newport comfortably 3rd on 132pts, Exeter 77pts 4th and Southampton 68pts, 8pts ahead of Horspath.

A reminder the second round at Southampton has been re-scheduled to Saturday 15th June – it still remains one of the National Qualifying rounds with no other scheduled rounds impacted.
