MATCH REPORT: Bury take Division 2 and 3 wins over Glasgow

Bury Cycle Speedway Club, entertained Glasgow 2nd division team in the Northern League on Sunday, in a rearranged match. 

Glasgow were racing at Astley and Tyldesley at 2pm later in the day, so asked the Bury club if they could arrange to race them with an 11am start, which Bury were pleased to do as it saved them the long journey up to Glasgow in October.

After a drawn first heat, Bury rode to two 7-3 heat wins, but Glasgow took another shared heat in heat 4, before Danny Taylor and David Renc took another 7-3 in the next race. Glasgow hit back with two drawn heats, before the Taylor and Turner pairing hit another 7-3 in heat 8.

Bury took control of the match from that point and provided the winner in 5 of the next 7 races. Bury’s second string riders did a good job picking up the seconds and thirds, meaning Bury were convincing winners after 15 heats, 90-30, having either won or drawn all the heats.

James Elston and Danny Taylor were unbeaten Dawid Renc lost only once. Will Thacker took a good 14 and 2 bonus with Steve Mann riding to 11 and 3 bonus. Louis Turner 7 and 1 bonus from 3 rides and Sean Etheridge, in his first second division match rode very well from his 2 rides, with 3 points.

With Glasgow unable to field any under 13s riders, Bury took the win 119-0 with Louis Turner unbeaten on 16 points, Adam Taylor making a welcome return and riding to 15 points, with Sean Etheridge and Danny Taylor both taking 14 points. The encouraging signs were there, that some of the younger riders were beginning to show real development taking some good scores.
