NEWS: Winwood set for repeat success

Coventry Cycle Speedway Club hosts the annual Chris Allen Memorial Trophy this Sunday (12th October) at 2pm at their Hearsall Common, Earlsdon, headquarters.

Won by Birmingham’s Mark Winwood 12 months ago, the meeting proved to be a popular event with riders who aim to gain some final track time before the season closes for the winter.

Winwood was a popular and deserved victor 12 months ago. He raced for Coventry in both 2012 and 2013 as a loan rider, helping Coventry to fully return to league racing after an absence of four years.

16 of the Midland`s best riders taking to track in a bid to win the event – which runs in memory of former 19 year old Coventry racer Chris Allen who tragically collapsed and died after a race at Hearsall Common in 1973.

Polish duo Dominik Rycharski and Konrad Pietak will mount a stern challenge for the coveted silverware, whilst a host of Coventry`s fast rising juniors such as Dan Drewett, Mason Phillips and Kyle Roberts are set to make their mark at senior level.
