2016 CLUB CHAMPS: Leicester, Ipswich and Kesgrave the winners on day two

Leicester’s veteran team once again retained their British Veterans Club Championship at Wednesfield this afternoon, while Kesgrave also made it back to back titles in the under 10s.

The Monarchs took on Kesgrave, Wednesfield and Northumbria in the Over 40s final and were convincing winners by 12 points.

Northumbria, led by Gavin Parr, who dropped just a single point, secured second place ahead of Wednesfield taking the final podium position on their home track.

Kesgrave needed a run off with Poole in the under 10s category, with both clubs finishing on 50 points. Charlie Beeton was Kesgrave’s hero against Poole’s impressive Joe Hurren in the run off.

John White rode to a maximum from the reserve berth to lead Astley and Tyldesley to third place, with the green army scoring 46, just 4 shy of the run off.

Ipswich and Wednesfield came fourth and fifth with 35 and 19 points respectively.

Over at East Park, Ipswich stormed their way to victory in the Under 16s category. The Eagles provided the heat winner for 10 of the 16 races, with closest rivals, Poole, 9 points behind.

Coventry’s young team gave their club something to be proud of finishing in third place, while Sheffield also made the final and finished fourth.
