MATCH REPORT: Excellent racing at Norfolk Go-Ride GP

Norfolk put on another entertaining evening’s racing at Eaton Park with the fourth Go-Ride Grand Prix.

19 riders arrived to find that the first bend would present a challenge, as the inside 18 inches was coned off following flooding from an overnight thunderstorm. Apart from that track conditions were perfect and some excellent racing took place.

Spare a thought for the eight Under 10s who had seven rides each plus a final – they were totally immersed in the racing to notice but it did mean the last race – a very competitive Senior final – took place in gloomy conditions close to 9pm

George Larter dominated the Under 10s undefeated, but the Under 13s was well contested, with Tom Blackmore just holding off Giles Awbery in the final straight. Owen Wells doubled up on his easy Under 16 section by racing in the Seniors which was spiced up by the return of former Norwich Stars rider Liam Webster who has now linked up with his former colleagues at Hethersett. He was leading the final until he lost control going into the final bend and was past by the wily Paddy Wenn.

Some tired youngsters went away with their awards and we all look forward to Round 5 at Hethersett on August 9th.
