NEWS: Herbert joins British Cycling CS Commission

Top women’s racer, Charlie Jane Herbert, has accepted British Cycling’s invitation to serve on the Cycle Speedway commission following last month’s departure of Myke Grimes.

Herbert, the 2014 British Champion and Great Britain squad member, is an influential figure in women’s racing and provides a welcomed balance to the commission, which is currently headed by British Cycling board member and ex-CS racer, Graham Elliott.

Other members currently serving on the commission are Bob Prince (coaching), Graham Sutton (governance), Pete Ward (competitions) and Phil Clarke.

Based in the forward-thinking South East and East region, Herbert is originally from Exeter, moving to Ipswich a few years ago to live with long-term partner and senior Great Britain squad member, Ash Hill.

The sport should be grateful when the younger generations stand up to the challenge and hopefully Charlie Jane will be treated with the dignity and respect that she deserves throughout her tenure.

33/18 News wishes her the best in her new post.
