HOME INTERNATIONAL: England Senior Team Announced

England Senior Team Manager Wayne Aris has revealed his team for the 2021 Home International at Astley & Tyldesley on Saturday July 31st. He explains his selections below:

“I’ve picked an England Team with a lot of experience for this years home international as that within the past 2 years there has not been a lot of racing going on so I’ve had to pick riders that have been racing and scoring well in few matches that have been going on.

Andy Angell

Andy is a rider that has always given a 100% to his cycle speedway and the 3 times British Champion is the kind of rider I need in my team. Recently Andy won the Yorkshire Individual G.P in which he looked sharp and a hard man to beat and with Andy having rode the A&T track many times he will be the man to beat. Andy will also be England Team captain for this match.

Chris Jewkes

Chris is one of the most well known and pleasant riders in our sport and with me being his club manager I know how much hard work C.J puts into his racing. The few matches that C.J has raced this year he has been in great form and is well worthy of his England call up

Zac Payne

Zac has established him self as one of the best riders in the country. Zac has been in the England and G.B set ups for some time now so he knows what it’s all about. Zac is a man of very few words and comes over as a quiet man but is very competitive and aggressive on the track and the former British Champion is the kind of bloke I need in the team.

Myke Grimes

The fast gating Myke Grimes is a man I’ve been trying to get in the home international set up for some time but with either family or holiday commitments until this year he has had to kindly turn me down. The Coventry No1 is one of the nice guys of this sport and I always look forward to working with Myke and it will be good to see him in a England shirt once again.

Nathan Everett

Nathan is a rider I’ve kept an eye on for the past few years and is one of most improved riders I’ve seen. He is very fast competitive and with a bit of inside information I know he has been training and racing very well. With someone like Andy Angel has his mentor then the lad will have a good future in this sport. It’s always good to give someone there international debut and I’m sure Nathan will give it his all.

“So we are all set for the home international and I’m looking forward to working with this bunch of lads. The England Team will also be racing in new shirts and would like to take this opportunity to thank Brian Stanley of Tribulo Steel in Wolverhampton for the sponsorship deal. I wish all team and competitors all the best in Astley & Tyldesley but hopefully it will be England that come away victorious.”
