HOME INTERNATIONAL: More teams announced

3 more teams have confirmed their line-ups for the Home Internationals at Astley & Tyldesley on Saturday July 31st

Scotland manager Kyle Holland has named his Junior team and explains his selections below:

Elliot Davies – Its great seeing his confidence grow in this discipline and getting to grips with track positions and the tactical side of the sport, Elliot is having some good battles in the Northern League division 2 for Fife .

Harris Alsop – He was perhaps the reason Fife were challenging for the Northern League division 2 title at the end of the season and why he has managed to get some racing in Division 1. He’s also been part of the formidable Madras teams who have dominated the schools scene.

Kayden Davidson – His progression in the sport has been rapid, Started racing for Fife start of 2018 to his match winning point away to Sheffield at the end of that season to effectively win the league for Fife .In 2019 his appearances were hampered due to the 4 rider format but he excelled in the 4s series winning the U16s category and beating some notable, experienced riders. His speed and tactical awareness means he will be near the top of Div2 averages,

Tom Blackmore – Tom has been riding well for Norwich in the BYJL rounds and has impressed me in last Home Internationals at Ipswich he brings some experience with him also he will never give up and I think Astley and Tyldesley track will suit him

Aaron Smith – Aaron has learned a lot while racing in the northern league division 2/3 for Edinburgh and Fife he is willing to learn and get stuck in and push for 4 laps Aaron now joins our exciting crop of youngsters which is only good for the sport north of the border. Racing with his peers and against the top home nations juniors I’m confident that his progress will be fast. With no expectations on our youngsters it’s all about the enjoyment of the sport.

Meanwhile Ireland co-manager Steve Copping has confirmed the team which will compete in the Over 40’s event. Steve himself will be in the line-up, as will his Norwich team-mate Dave Blackmore, who made his Ireland debut in the 2019 event at Ipswich. Also riding for Ireland will be 2 riders who have returned to racing this season, John Evans and Steve Perkins. Steve’s co-manager Gary Colby will also feature if he is available.

England Over 40’s team manager Geoff Gamage has named his team for the event. The line up will be the Leicester trio of Norman Venson plus the Whitehead brothers Craig & Mark. Wednesfield’s Paul Share, who returned to the sport this season, and Astley & Tyldesley’s Steve Harris complete the line-up
