PREVIEW: Home Internationals & Women’s Regional Pairs

Astley & Tyldesley is the venue tomorrow (Saturday July 31st) for the Home Internationals and the Women’s Regional Pairs. The events were originally scheduled to be staged at Fife on Saturday May 22nd but were cancelled and subsequently reinstated following the cancellation of the European Championships due to challenges of international travel.

The Women’s Regional Pairs open the proceedings at 11am using the 4 pair, 12 heat formula. The Over 40’s Home International follows at 12.30pm with England defending the title they won at Ipswich in 2019. Ireland will be without John Evans for this match as he has had to go into self-isolation after his son-in-law returned a positive PCR test for Covid-19

The Junior match follows at 2.30pm and will see England defend the title they won at Ipswich in 2019 against Scotland and an Ireland Select. Due to rider unavailability Wales will not be represented in this event

The Senior match follows at 4.30pm and Scotland will be without Jake Slight as he has also had to go into self-isolation following contact with a positive Covid. England, who are the defending champions in this event having won at Ipswich in 2019, will be captained by 3 time British Champion Andy Angell in what will be his final International match
