The previous Saturday (24th July) saw the final British Youth & Junior League Regional round take place at East London which was also the final round of the South-East Grand Prix Series for 2021. Of the Norwich riders Luke Sutherland did not race at East London but the 2 rounds he did race in were good enough to give him 8th place overall in the Under 8’s with 23 points.
In the Under 10’s Connor Jarrett was the only Norwich rider to race and he won the A Final which gave him 2nd overall on 63 points. Frank Spauls and Kenny Culling did not race at East London but Frank finished 6th overall with 38 points whilst Kenny finished 9th overall on 20 points.
Will Blackmore was Norwich’s only representative in the Under 12’s and 3rd in the B Final saw him finish 8th overall on 36 points.
Shaun Kell was runner-up in the Under 14’s A Final and that was good enough to give him 3rd overall on 56 points.
As in the 2 previous rounds Tom Blackmore was the only Under 18 rider present so he automatically won the category on the day as well as winning the category overall
In the Seniors Jamie Medler finished 4th in the A Final which put him in a tie for 4th overall with Great Blakenham rider Jamie Chittock.
Steve Copping did not race at East London as he wanted to save himself for the Home Internationals but the 2 rounds he did race in were good enough for him to finish 6th overall in the Veterans category.

Several Norwich riders are expected to compete in what will now be the opening round of the HSBC Norfolk Go-Ride and Senior Series at Spixworth this coming Wednesday (August 4th), the original first round at Hethersett having been postponed due to a flooded track following a heavy thunderstorm. Norwich’s next South-East League match is scheduled for Sunday August 22nd when they make the trip to Ipswich which will also feature a Youth League match
