RESULT: Manchester League round 6

Stockport hosted the 6th and concluding round of the Manchester League Grand Prix series on Wednesday evening. There was plenty of good racing on a pleasant warm evening, which was completed just as dusk fell.

In the Division 2 (junior) match, Astley & Tyldesley raced to their fifth win in the series, to clinch the league title in fine style. Bury’s Daniel Miller scored a 16 points maximum in the u-10s match, but A&T showed their strength, with all six A&T riders taking the next highest scoring places in the match. Emily Burgess scored 15 points, to clinch the u-10s Manchester League Grand Prix series.

A&T’s Max Evans raced to an unbeaten 16 points in the u-13 match, whilst the 15 points scored by Bury’s Tom Whitwam was sufficient to clinch the u-13s Grand Prix title by one point. The u-16s and u-19s were once again combined. Sheffield’s Adam Watson and A&T’s Reece Pollitt each scored 14 points, which was enough for Watson to seal the u-16s Grand Prix title. Stockport’s Jake Read raced unbeaten in the match and secured the u-19s Grand Prix series.

Stockport took their sixth win of the series in the Division 1 (seniors) match. This was despite losing Jack Lush, who suffered a broken nose, after taking a nasty fall whilst warming up before the match started. Ben Higham top scored on the night and also clinched the Senior Grand Prix series win.
