NEWS: Commission to ban specialised gearing

The Cycle Speedway Commission have issued plans to “level the playing field” by introducing a new rule from 2016, that all riders must be on the same gearing, 33/18.

Many riders ride different gearings, the most popular being 34/18, however the commission feel that it gives an unfair advantage on some tracks.

A spokesman for the commission said, “We want everyone on the same gearing, which we feel will increase competition. Streamlining what is and isn’t allowed is an important move for the sport. If everyone is on the same set up, we will know who is truly the fastest.”
