MATCH REPORT: Loss of Troy Allen costs the Dragons

Wednesfield Dragons 86 – 91 Birmingham Monarchs, Midland League 1,  Sunday 30th March 2014.

Another contest that looked close on paper beckoned with the first home meeting for the Dragons hosting Birmingham.

Heat 1 went to the visitors 3-7, but the home side fought back with 6-4 of their own.

Heat 3 was an even contest with Griffiths taking the win over Winwood who chased hard and Everiss held by James.

Heat 4 and the Dragons spirits are at a high with a 7-3 seeing some superb team riding from Dyke and Jordan.

The following heats seemed evenly match until heat 8 when a dramatic turn of events saw Allen hitting the deck after contact with Ball. Allen left the track only to return with a broken wrist. Going into the interval the Dragons lead by 2 points, but knew this loss spelt disaster.

Heat 14 and the scores all square. Dyke is out on his own due to no reserve available for the injured Allen. Ball and Winwood showed Dyke the long way around taking 2-7.
