NEWS: Referees training course and conference

British Cycling have two up coming events for referees to attend. Firstly on the 18th of January, Mike Hack, the head of referees in Cycle Speedway, hosts referee training and an all discipline referees conference takes place in January and February 2015. Registrations for the latter close today, so get in quick. Here’s all the details:

British Cycling will be staging a Regional Referees’ Training Course on Sunday 18th January 2015. The venue will be the Cramlington Sporting Club, Highburn, Cramlington, NE23 6BN (adjacent to the Northumbria Vikings cycle speedway track). The course will be classroom based, starting at 11.00 am and finishing at around 3.00 pm.

Refreshments and course material will be provided for all course participants. Mike Hack will be the course facilitator.

The course is free of charge and open to all current cycle speedway referees and anyone interested in becoming a referee. Although the course is being held in the North East, the course is open to anyone within the sport from across the UK.

The closing date for people to register for the course is Friday 9th January 2015 to m.hack@blueyonder.co.uk.

There are two Referee Conferences planned for 2015. These will be 25th January in Bristol and 21st February in Manchester.

Both these conferences form part of a day of seminars and presentations aimed at cycle race officials from all disciplines. Those CS Referees who have attended these conferences in the past have found them highly valuable, both in terms of being able to talk through those issues linked directly within CS Refereeing within their own conference during the day and through talking with ours from other cycling disciplines.
