NEWS: New look commission unveiled by British Cycling

British Cycling today informed clubs of the new look Cycle Speedway commission, under chairman Graham Elliott.

The letter from Paul West reads:

Hi all

Over recent months the role of the British Cycling Cycle Speedway Commission within CS Sport has been under scrutiny both from within the Commission and externally. It is apparent that the Commission as it is currently structured has had to dedicate too much time to the minutiae rather than concentrating on the bigger picture. In order to make progress the Commission does very much need to concentrate on key areas of management and development. With the above in mind the new British Cycling Cycle Speedway Commission will be made up as follows in terms of roles and 2015 appointees:

Graham Elliott – Chair
Jamie Goldsmith – Development/Coaching/Training
Myke Grimes – Publicity/Promotion/Sponsorship/Media
Bob Prince – Facilities/H&S/Risk Management
Graham Sutton – CS Governance
Pete Ward – Competitions including Regional liaison & International liaison/Discipline/Rules
Paul West – Facilitator and Administrator

The following roles will remain as previously allocated for 2015. All will feed into the Competitions Commission Member (Pete Ward):

Geoff Gamage – Elite League Manager
Ross Mee – BYJL Manager
Natalie Timms – Women’s Racing Manager
Mike Hack – Referees Officer

The contact between the Commission and the Regions will continue through the Development Commission Member (Jamie Goldsmith). Each Region is offered the opportunity to put a Development Officer forward to work with this Commission member on Development Issues. BCHQ and the BC Board recognises the considerable input that all past BC CS Commission members have put into the sport and thanks them for this commitment. It is hoped that all these persons (and indeed many others) will see this as an opportunity to continue with their support of the sport without the necessity of having to attend Commission meetings.
