RIDER NEWS: Parr overwhelmed by support

Northumbria and Sheffield Stars Captain Gavin Parr has been blown away by the level of support he has been given by local businesses in the North East region after putting out a plea on Facebook.

Parr faces travelling nearly 2000 miles just this month alone in his quest for honours with the Stars, the Vikings and on an individual level.

Gavin said, “Its going to cost me a small fortune over the next few weeks and I decided to try and get a little help off local businesses. The reply to this has been astonishing and I cant thank each and everyone of them enough for the support.”

Parr who had a big crash during the Northern League individuals when he managed to snap his chain ring bolts will also be putting the sponsorship money towards a sports physio who he will be visiting tonight after suffering a shoulder injury in the crash. Winning the Over 40s title for the third time and then having a fantastic result in finishing runner up in the senior open event.

“Im in a lot of pain at the moment from the shoulder and sleeping is pretty difficult. Hopefully I can get it sorted out with a couple of physio sessions and be fit and raring to go for Sundays long trip down to Poole in Dorset.

“I would like to thank the following for the generosity shown and if any other companies would like to help me out I would be honoured to carry their company name far and wide on my travels.

“FBI Racing have provided fuel money and race bottoms. Forever Living (Gillian Freeman) have supplied me with products and fuel money. www.thecuriositybox.co.uk have backed me with fuel money along with Joey’s Page from facebook. Finally, Hexagon Ltd (www.hexagondraw.co.uk) and a mobile hair dresser has also donated fuel money.

“Lets hope I can repay the faith they have shown in me and give them something to smile about until the end of the current season in October.”
