WEEKEND PREVIEW: BYJL returns plus regional racing

A busy weekend of racing starts off on Saturday with the return of the British Youth & Junior League. Poole host the action in the South & South Wales region whilst the North & Scotland round is at Astley & Tyldesley. Leicester will stage the Midland round whilst the South East & East round, which will double up as the first round of the South-East Grand Prix series, will be staged at Ipswich and not Kesgrave as stated in the fixture list issued by British Cycling

Sunday’s regional racing sees action in the North & Scotland, Midland & South-East & Eastern regions as well as 2 matches in the Crossover League in which Poole, Horspath, Coventry, Leicester, Birmingham & Wednesfield will all compete. Matches between Poole & Horspath will also double up as their matches in the South & South Wales League and when the 4 Midland teams race against each other those fixtures will double up as Midland League fixtures as will be the case with Leicester v Birmingham. Sunday’s other fixtures in the Crossover League will see Coventry host Poole whilst Wednesfield make the trip to Horspath.
In the North & Scotland League Bury open their league season with a visit from the 2016 Division 1 champions Edinburgh(11am start). Edinburgh then move on to Sheffield for Division 2 & 3 action starting at 3pm. Stockport host Astley & Tyldesley, Division 1 champions for the last 2 seasons. Hull make the trip to Scotland for Division 2 & 3 action starting at Fife at midday before moving on to Glasgow(3pm).
The reigning South-East & East League Division 1 champions Ipswich begin the defence of their title at Hethersett whilst the reigning Division 2 champions Kesgrave begin the defence of their title with a visit from Norwich. Kesgrave also stage 2 South-East Youth League matches as their Panthers & Pumas teams stage matches against Norwich.
