CLUB NEWS: Stars finish 3rd in League

Norwich Stars staged their last South-East Division 2 League match on Sunday September 17th when Hellingly were the visitors to Eaton Park. After a shared 1st heat Paddy Wenn and McKenzie Loombe combined for a 7-3 over Dylan & Barrie Geer to take a lead that they would not relinquish as they won by 86 points to 74 to clinch 3rd place in the final table. Paddy scored 17+1, as did Harrie Everiss. Gary Colby scored 15+2, Lee Grange 14+1, McKenzie 12+1, David Adams 8+3 and Jack Weston 3

Gary and Paddy both rode in the Jim Peck Memorial Veterans event on Saturday September 23rd and both scored 11 points to finish in a 4 way tie for 7th along with Andre Cross and Lee Galley

The final round of the Norfolk Go-Ride and Grand Prix was held at Hethersett on Wednesday 27th September, 1 week later than originally scheduled due to bad weather. In the Under 12/Under 14 event Zackery Eastwood won the A Final whilst Jamie Medler was 3rd in the Under 16/Senior A Final.

Under 8/Under 10’s : Jonah Hockey 13th equal, 24 points; Thomas King 16th, 17 points.

Under 12/Under 14: Zackery 1st, 127 points; Will Blackmore 13th, 7 points.

Under 16/Senior: Jamie 3rd, 119 points; Harrie 4th, 83 points; Jack 5th, 71 points; Tom Blackmore 11th, 27 points; David 15th, 13 points

Saturday October 7th saw the final round of the South-East Grand Prix at Harford Park with 6 Norwich riders taking part on the day. In the Under 10’s Kenzie Bushell and Kalum Ward both scored 6 points in the heats which meant that they had to have a run-off for the last place in the B Final which Kenzie won. Kenzie finished 4th in the B Final whilst Kalum won the C Final. The Under 12’s saw Zackery ride and score 10 points in the heats befiore finishing 3rd in the B Final. Sophie-Leigh Palley also rode and scored 6 points which saw her ride in the C Final where she finished 3rd. Steve Copping rode in the Over 40’s as did Paddy. For the heats they raced with the Seniors where Paddy scored 10 points and Steve 3, Steve’s score restricted by a heavy fall in his 3rd ride. Paddy won the Final with Steve finishing 3rd.

Under 10’s: Kenzie 15th equal, 11 points; Kalum 17th, 9 points,

Under 12’s: Zackery 10th, 39 points, Sophie 16th, 7 points

Under 14’s: Will 13th, 18 points

Seniors: Tom 15th, 14 points, Jack & Harrie 18th equal, 12 points each, Jamie 25th, 3 points

Over 40’s: Paddy 1st, 114 points, Steve 3rd, 71 points

On the same day as the last South-East Grand Prix it was the final round of the EuroVets at Heckmondwike. Paddy and Steve have both been riding in this series during the season but their involvement in the 2023 series finished after the Exeter round in June. Paddy finished 8th overall in the Over 50’s with 76 points whilst Steve was 8th overall in both the Over 35’s and Over 40’s in his final year in those categories, scoring 53 points in the Over 35’s and 55 points in the Over 40’s

The Norfolk Individual Championships took place on Saturday October 14th with 10 Norwich riders taking part. Their results are below:

Under 8’s: Thomas King 4th equal, 6 points

Under 10’s: Kenzie 2nd, 15 points; Kalum 9th, 8 points

Under 13’s: Zackery 1st, 20 points; Will 2nd, 18 points

Under 16’s: Zackery 2nd, 11 points; Will 3rd, 10 points

Under 19’s: Zackery 2nd, 11 points

Senior: Paddy 2nd, 14 points; Harrie 3rd, 13 points; Jamie 6th, 7 points; Steve 7th, 4 points

Ladies: Tabby Nierop 3rd, 9 points

Over 40’s: Paddy 2nd, 13 points; Steve 4th, 5 points

The Norwich Club Championships will be staged on Tuesday 24th October at Harford Park with a start time of 6.30pm which will round off the competitive action for Norwich as a club for 2023. However in November Paddy and Steve will be headed to Australia for the World Championships
