CLUB NEWS: Driftway arrives in Newport

On Sunday 22nd October, Newport Cycle Speedway Club hosted a new cycling discipline in the form of ‘driftway’ racing.

A brand new sport created by Dave Pashley, the bikes are a bmx frame design with a drift wheel on the back. The day was a great success with 16 riders competing over a 2 lap race, which provided great racing for all involved. The bikes were provided by bxmremo for all riders to use. Trophies was also provided by Dave Pashley himself, with the following riders taking home the trophies :

Seniors – Callum Goward
U16s – Kian May
U10s – Kayden Clark
Fastest lap – Joe Lewis

The day was a huge success, with two cycling disciplines coming together and providing a full filled action packed day.

Dave Pashley is looking to bring this discipline all over the UK and is keen to get as many Cycle Speedway clubs involved as possible, having already events at Newport and Exeter, this would be a great opportunity for any Cycle Speedway clubs looking to expand and attract new riders to their club.

Everyone at Newport Cycle Speedway Club wish to thank bmxdrift for allowing us this opportunity to try a new cycling discipline, and looking forward to working with them throughout 2018.
