Despite the meeting “clashing” with the Superloop 500 motor racing event in Adelaide well over 80 competitors nominated for the Findon Mitre 10 Annual Memorial Open Championship on Sunday. Staged over all the divisions it was the fiercely contested junior category over a series of heats and a “one off”
final that produced some brilliant top class racing.

It was Jackson Dobie who emerged as champion from Blade Blatchford, Aussie Jones and Justin Hastings and these four would appear at present to be the core of the host nations U18 squad that will contest the World Junior Team Championship later this year.

The Open event featured a galaxy of international names but it was in form Bobby McMillan who added another gold to his collection with Cody Chadwick, Farren Wills and Brayden Makepease in the minor placings.

World Champion Lucy Millikin completed another unbeaten afternoon to capture the Women’s major award with the ever improving Sarah Kinross just edging out Charlotte Milburn and Jackie Kinross.

However it was unfortunate that ” under the weather ” Nicole Kinross had to withdraw at the last minute as her clashes with Millikin are nail bitting as they vie for the position of Australia No 1.
